EagleBookSwap Blog

Doors Close by Nate Graves   12/19/2009 10:51:06 AM

Hi All,

I regret to inform you that we will be closing down EagleBookSwap.com for an indefinite amount of time.

All three of us have found ourselves on different paths, and have found it hard to maintain the website. We have also noticed a decline in our user-base. Because EagleBookSwap is a very social website, a large user-base is essential for its success.

The website does still function and we would be willing to pass it along to another group if the right people came along. If you would like to continue our vision, please contact us.

Otherwise, Best Wishes,

Nathan

Welcome UGA by Joe Rainone   09/25/2008 6:09:34 PM

As mentioned previously we are expanding to other schools in Georgia. I am proud to announce the first school added is University of Georgia. UGA is a large school which should help to ensure a healthy marketplace where buying, selling, and swapping books is possible. We hope all UGA students give EagleBookSwap.com a chance to show them that we are serious when we say you will save money. So once more, EBS welcomes UGA.

Campus Representatives Position by Nate Graves   08/15/2008 10:50:18 AM

As Joe said in our previous blog entry, we are planning to spread EagleBookSwap.com statewide. With that said, we need your help! In our effort to move across campuses, we feel that an EagleBookSwap.com Representative on their respective campus will help us spread the word. With this position you will be engaged in a challenging real-world experience while helping fellow students save money during book season.

With that, some perks with this position include:
- Very Flexible Hours
- An excellent way to build your resume.

If your even the slightest interested or know anyone that may be, shoot us an e-mail at NateGraves@eaglebookswap.com.
We are excited about the possibilities of this, and we look forward to possibly working with you!

The Future by Joe Rainone   08/3/2008 12:40:00 PM

In an effort to make EagleBookSwap.com a more popular household name, we are planning on some expansion. By October of this year, EagleBookSwap will be added to more Georgia colleges. What does this mean for you as a current EBS member?

Nothing. We feel that the best practice will be to keep the book swapping, buying, and selling only permitted within the same school networks. This will eliminate the complications of shipping and possible security issues.

In other more relevant news, we are trying to integrate Facebook.com into the site. Hopefully this will allow you to login with your Facebook credentials, publish relevant stories, and further the word of saving money. With that said, expect a few minor design changes to better incorporate Facebook in the site.

EBS v2.0 by Joe Rainone   04/17/2008 2:12:34 AM

We haven't been idle here at EagleBookSwap.com, in fact quite the opposite. We heard your voices, partly through our new forum, and have made some much needed changes. Where to start....

Search: Totally redone, no longer does it take 3 pages worth of clicking to add a book, now its down to 2. We added the ability to search by Title, as well as the Course and ISBN search from before. As one more time saver you can also search up to 3 courses at once. We hope this helps make searching more efficient.

Messaging: The old system had an email feel to it, where your inbox would get cluttered up. The new system is more conversation like where you can send messages almost like an instant messenger.

Offers: We refined the look and added some options to the Accept Offer page. You can now include whatever information you need to quickin the swap process. We also now allow for multiple people to make an offer for 1 book. When that person accepts one offer the other people are notified with an email.

Well those are the basic changes made to the site. We hope you like them because they sure took some time :)

Forum Released by Nate Graves   01/11/2008 2:05:51 PM

One feature that we wanted to implement that did not make it in time for the first release was a Forum. We wanted to allow our users to discuss topics of their interest, discuss the Book Revolution, and to add another way to contact the team for help, comments, and suggestions. We are very proud to announce that the forum is complete, and ready for use. If you have any comments/questions about EagleBookSwap.com, Georgia Southern News, or anything at all you want to discuss feel free to post!

New Spring Course List by Joe Rainone   01/10/2008 1:51:00 PM

All courses offered by Georgia Southern should now be listed on our search tool. The university just sent us the latest copy of their own book list so if they have a book for a class it should show up on EagleBookSwap.

Referral Program Updates by Casey Adams   12/5/2007 11:54:48 AM

We have extended the deadline for the Referral Program. We saw that not everyone has had a chance to get out and really recruit their friends and we really want to give away this $100 in cash. So, the new date is January 25th, 2008!! That is an extra 2 months to get out there and tell all you friends about the program. We have also created a couple tools to help with the recruitment process. Just go to:

http://EagleBookSwap.com/ReferralInfo.php

and look for the link to print off a Referral Flyer that you can write you Referral Code on and give out to your friends. Or if you want to save trees, you can send anyone an email invitation by clicking Invite a Friend! Please let us know if you have any questions or suggestion on how to make the Referral Program better!!

New Referral Program by Joe Rainone   11/25/2007 11:00:00 PM

The referral program was a great idea and I give Casey props for thinking of it. Basically its a win-win situation. You refer new users potentially winning 100 bucks cash and we get more members to the site. Just login take your referral code which is right under your user name on the left bar, find some people to register, have them put in your code, and instantly points are rewarded to you. Its simple, easy, fast, and painless. Enjoy!

For stats, you must be logged in but visit: Referral Leader Board

Spring Course List is Here by Joe Rainone   11/19/2007 6:11:12 PM

Fresh from the university we just received the Spring course list. It has all the new sections and professors teaching all the courses offered in Spring. It also has the updated buyback prices so we adjusted our suggested price. This only affects about 60 books total so chances are your fine. If you have any doubts about your listed price right now just click the 'Edit' button for your 'My Book' and the updated suggested price should show.

Update: There are some courses/sections missing from the list. This is due to the bookstore not actually having that information yet. We will keep asking for new lists every week, so hang tight.

91.9 The Buzz Inteview by Casey Adams   11/18/2007 3:48:26 PM

This past weekend EagleBookSwap.com was broadcast across the airwaves. Around 1:00pm on Sunday I was interviewed about EBS. I want to thank 91.9 very much for allowing us the opportunity to spread the work over the radio. We are planning to return on December 1st with the entire team, so keep you radios dialed in to 91.9 The Buzz!!

We are proud to announce that we have enabled the adding of custom Georgia Southern Books to the 'Wishlist' and 'My Books.' Now students can save money even on those pesky custom Georiga Southern books you cant buy online! Just be sure the custom book isnt a packet which can only be used once.
